Hello.

This is me, Elanna Allen.  I design imaginary worlds that capture the joy of being human.

Over years of study and practice, I have created a unified design language for these imaginary worlds that trigger an instinctive jolt happiness in the viewer, or so I have heard.  I have studied both human and animal anatomy in life and through cadaver dissection to understand the underpinnings of character features that express  personality.  I consider myself a blackbelt in kawaii.

Enjoy perusing these imaginary worlds here.  You'll find illustration, character design, drawings,  animation, as well as the television shows.   Also, there are a smattering of my AI creations based on diffusion models trained solely on my original art.  Enjoy!

My Story

It started with a childhood love of sculpting tiny things, that morphed into the making of tiny clay stop motion movies that blossomed into a career of creating colorful happy worlds for animation and picture books.  I studied fine art at Brown University, illustration at RISD, and animation at the National Film Academy in Prague, FAMU.

My first love is brainstorming ideas and working in teams towards a collective creative output, a la animation productions.   It would be a dream to explore new frontiers at Google Creative Lab with people who have vastly different areas of expertise.

Happily, I live in the very city that Google is hosting this year's Creative Lab.  You can find me on the Upper East Side, with my husband, two sons, and one cat, where we all sit around, sculpting tiny imaginary worlds together.  (Except my poor cat, who lacks the necessary thumbs for sculpture.)
